Visit to Gislaved Energipark

Within the framework of DigiRES, project partners recently visited Gislaved Energipark in southern Sweden.

The energy park integrates several renewable and flexible energy technologies: three battery energy storage systems (BESS) with a total capacity of 1 MW, a 2 MW solar PV park, and a 400 kW DC charger. Together, these facilities provide a real-world environment for exploring how energy storage and solar generation interact with the grid.

The participants included hosts Fredrik Stigebrandt (Gislaved Energipark) and Bengt Palmgren (CEO, PLS Energy System), as well as project partners Tuan Le Anh and David Steen (Chalmers University of Technology), Chun Fu(Centrica, Belgium), and Chris Hellström, Anders Segerlund, Sami Sullivan and Hanna Persson (Chalmers Industriteknik).

The visit offered valuable opportunities to observe how the BESS units and PV responded dynamically to grid conditions, cloud movements, charging events and frequency services. These insights contribute to the DigiRES project’s ambition to strengthen knowledge and innovation around digital solutions for renewable energy integration and system flexibility.

We extend our thanks to Gislaved Energipark for hosting the visit and sharing their expertise.
